I believe reading is one of the most important things for all students.  Students need to read every night for 15 minutes. Students should pick a book that they can read fluently or it should sound like they are talking.  Occasionally you may use the 15 minutes to read to your student instead of their reading.  Please complete the monthy reading log calendar and return it at the end of the month.  We will be involved in the Book It program and this log will be used to verify participation.

Homework is important.  It helps your student establish good study skills.  It helps them develp a regular plan for practing school work.  I believe homework should be done independently.  The student should be able to complete their homework with little help.  I am not interested in knowing if the student's parents can complete their student's homework.  Homework is for the student, not the parents.  I do not grade the homework because this is not fair to the students who complete their papers on their own or who do not have additional help.

The following is a description of the regular homework assignments your student will have this year.  However, if you student fails to complete their work during class, they make bring home school work.

I do not make extra copies of the Math homework.
A Math worksheets will be handed out as they go along with our lessons.  They will be due the following day.  We will correct it together in class.  The Math worksheet will cover a variety of math skills which should be a review for your student.  If your student does not understand something or if it is confusing to you, please write me a note in their planner.  This sheet is meant to help them practice skills not add stress to your life.

This page will be updated at the beginning of the school year to accurately reflect this year's homework procedures.
